IDT! Makes Progress With Leading Associations for Iowa Business

8/28/2004 - IDT!'s PROGRESS

On August 10th, Kevin McLaughlin, President of Iowans for Discounted Taxes!, met with the Leadership Committee of the National Federation of Independent Business at the invitation of David Brasher, their Director for Iowa.

The Federation represents small businessmen and businesswomen, the engines for job growth in every economy. NFIB's concern is not only the growing cost of doing business in Iowa based on the tax burden, but also the costs of keeping up with the regulatory burdens being created by government.

The meeting went well with the focus on DISCOUNTING income taxes for Iowans and their businesses, and thereby making the tax forms simple and compliance much easier. In fact, a question about Discounted Tax Reform will be part of their members' survey being created by Mr. Brasher. If the response comes in at, or above a certain level, then support for IDT!'s rewarding solution will become policy for NFIB.

In addition, and at the invitation of John Gilliland, Kevin McLaughlin is scheduled to address the Iowa Association of Business and Industry's Tax Committee on October 7th. This, too, is an important opportunity.

It goes without saying that IDT! appreciates being invited to present the benefits of our rewarding solution to these key groups. But it is also equally clear that, if they support discounting Iowa's income taxes, then the chances of succeeding are going to be much higher.

TO THE CANDIDATES:

Both Joe Grandanette and Chuck Allison report that their message at their constituents' doors has been that they will take Iowans OFF the state's income tax rolls. They have also been reporting, week-after-week, that that message is getting results with Independents and Democrats, as well as with Republicans.

Consequently, IDT! encourages candidates who would like to run on this rewarding solution to contact us for assistance. We will be happy to make up campaign handouts for you, free of charge.

The Republican National Convention is next week. Watch for President Bush to engage on issues like Social Security reform and tort reform. If he does, this election will turn in his favor.
