VILSACK SUPPORTS REVENUE-NEUTRAL TAX REFORM & MANY LEGISLATORS DO, TOO
|
| |
6/18/2004 - In today's Des Moines Register, Governor Vilsack was qouted as saying that he's, "interested in making Iowa's tax structure more fair and simple, as long as that doesn't reduce state revenue."
IDT! calls on the governor and the legislators to seize the rewarding opportunity presented to all Iowans if we discount our income taxes right now. Our proposal offers Iowans the freedom to choose filing with all their current deductions, or with a new discounted rate of only 5.72% on their EARNED income, with all your interest, dividends, pension, Social Security and capital gains being TAX-FREE.
Nothing is taken away from anyone because every Iowan decides which method is best for themselves. Additionally, research from The Beacon Hill Institute shows that the state's revenues will rise by approximately $100 million in the first year, $26 million of which will be directly attributable to this rewarding reform. But it also shows that over 13,700 new jobs will be created in an expanding economy, at no increased cost to anyone.
IDT! invites you to visit our website at www.iowansfordiscountedtaxes.org for more details and to see Beacon Hill's research. But we also encourage the governor and our legislators to enact this rewarding solution because, when everyone benefits, everyone should be in favor of it.
BE AN IOWAN TODAY: SUPPORT DISCOUNTING.
