Joe Grandanette Wins, BIG, By Offering Voters a DISCOUNT on Their Iowa Income Taxes!

6/9/2004 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Joe Grandanette, Republican candidate for Iowa House District 61, garnered 65% of the votes cast in yesterday's primary, running on Iowans for Discounted Taxes!' issue of offering taxpayers the freedom to choose between filing their Iowa income taxes with all of their current deductions, or with a new discounted rate at only 5.72% of their EARNED income, with all of their interest, dividends, pension, Social Security and capital gains being TAX-FREE.
Mr. Grandanette attributed his victory over his opponent, who had raised over twice as much in campaign funds, to hard work and his message about changing the way Iowa does business, so as to make taxpayers, including businesses, want to locate here instead of always leaving.
Joe said, "The voters of the District understood that IDT!'s proposal works just like discounting in mass-merchandising: The more money you keep, the more money the store makes. In other words, if we discount our income taxes right now, there won't be any losers: taxpayers keep more of their money, but the Iowa economy grows, creating new jobs, and the government's tax revenues rise without anyone paying anymore in taxes."
Mr. Grandanette also thanked his opponent, Norm Pawlewsky, for having run such a clean, issues-oriented race. He said, "Norm's a gentleman. Thanks to his regard for his constituents, voters were able to focus on the issues."
