STRATEGY & GOALS FOR SUMMER, 2004
|
| |
5/24/2004 - In the past three weeks, Iowans for Discounted Taxes! has had meetings with the Speaker of the Iowa House, Christopher Rants, Senate Majority Leader, Stewart Iverson, the Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee, Jamie Van Fossen, along with Carmine Boal, Kent Kramer, Jim Kurtenbach and Kraig Paulsen, key members of that Committee. We do not have any commitments from anyone, or legislation to describe to you as yet. But, because of these meetings and their leadership, the following strategy is taking shape.
At the State Republican Convention on June 12th, Iowans for Discounted Taxes! plans to continue building voter and taxpayer support for Discounted Tax Reform with thousands of handouts built around our new slogan “YOU, ME & IDT!” Our handout will describe the benefits of giving taxpayers the FREEDOM to choose filing your Iowa income taxes with all of your current deductions, or with your new discount at 5.72% of your EARNED income, with all your interest, dividends, pension, Social Security and capital gains being TAX-FREE.
On June 1st, Representative Bill Dix, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, has agreed to a meeting to discuss leveraging the campaigns of Republican candidates off of the voter awareness that we have been creating statewide with all our emails, and our new slogan, “YOU, ME & IDT!” If Mr. Dix believes in the benefits our issue provides for any candidate who runs on it, then IDT! will help fashion messages for issue-driven postcards that will help candidates relate to the needs and desires of their constituents, in their respective districts.
Even before getting legislation this fall, our goal will be to try to create a veto-proof majority in both chambers of the Legislature by making it easier for candidates campaigning on Discounted Tax Reform to get CONTRIBUTIONS, VOLUNTEERS and VOTES from fired-up constituents who want to have more money in their pockets, and make Iowa’s deficit a thing of the past!
BE AN IOWAN TODAY. SUPPORT DISCOUNTING!
